Meet us
Maplehurst Farm was established by Richard and Patricia Smith in 1965. They acquired the Moldstad Mansion, which was built in 1903 and was originally located 10 miles north in downtown Mount Vernon and barged it south down the Skagit River to its present-day location. They also moved the historic arbor and several trees from the original site of the mansion to their farm in south Mount Vernon. In 1969, Richard and Pat planted the rows of sugar maple trees that line the entrance to Maplehurst Farm. The Smiths lived at Maplehurst Farm for 43 years, while raising their family and farming.
They sold the mansion and a portion of the family farm to their grandson Jeffrey Anderson and his fiancé Jessie Hayton in 2008. Two weeks later, Jeffrey & Jessie hosted their own wedding at Maplehurst Farm. Their wedding was a success and they received so much positive feedback; they were inspired to open Maplehurst Farm to the public as a farm venue.
Jeffrey, Jessie, their 2 daughters, and Jessie’s Dad are farming 5 acres of strawberries, raspberries, marionberries and tayberries, as well as 5 acres of orchard grass for haybales. Jeffrey and Jessie welcome your inquiries about Maplehurst Farm, and they would be happy to give you a tour. Coming from two generational farm families, they are passionate about running their family farm venue and sharing information with their guests on the past, present and future importance of agriculture in the Skagit Valley.
